To debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The 2016 BMW 7 series (codenamed G11/G12) will be lighter, feature laden, and dynamically better performing than before, but how would it look? Here's a rendering of the same by artist Jerry Alarez. Published by BMW Blog, the rendered vehicle is based on the current version of the 7 series with changes made specifically to the front end.
The fascia has new BMW components like the headlamps merging into the kidney grille (which now appears to be smaller) and the angular daytime running lamps. The trademark kidney grille, and the set of two lights on each side are present as well. The bumper design is updated, too, and now gets a chrome treatment.
The new BMW 7 series is also expected to undergo some weight loss. With the use of materials like carbon fibre, the car could be lighter by up to 170 kilos in comparison to its predecessor, suggests an earlier report.
It's expected to be loaded with features like optional laser headlamps, in-car Wi-Fi, a Bower & Wilkins audio system, and the next generation version of BMW's iDrive infotainment system. The engine lineup of the car will include smaller, 2-litre four cylinder petrol (around 260 hp) and diesel (around 270 hp) options at the bottom of the range, while a V12 engine with an expected power of 600 hp is likely to sit at the top of the range. In the middle, the lineup will consist of 3-litre straight six petrol and diesel, and larger V8 petrol engines.
