Production in Europe slated to commence in August 2015.
Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Benedikt Paul, snapped the forthcoming 2016 BMW 3 Series (facelift) in Germany recently. According to a recent report, BMW will unveil the 3 Series LCI in an event in Munich, Germany, on May 7.
Cosmetic changes for BMW's best seller are reported to be conservative in nature. A revised kidney grille, new front and rear bumpers and inclusion of LED headlights and a LED brake-light sum up the main exterior changes. Further changes could be seen on the alloy wheel patterns, and optional M Sport body kit that is offered.
Inside, the 3 Series facelift will retain its driver-oriented cabin, featuring improvements to the iDrive connectivity system and the available trims and seat fabrics.
Reports state that BMW will be updating the engine lineup of the F30 LCI for better fuel economy, thereby reducing CO2 emissions. The updated engine range is expected to duck under the 100 g/km CO2 emission, one report claims.
With the Jaguar XE going on sale in Europe next month, BMW couldn't have asked for a better time to bring out the facelifted 3 Series, the main competitor for Britain's latest.
The Indian market launch of the 3 Series facelift should take place within 6 months from it going on sale in Europe. The engine options for India - 2.0-liter petrol and diesel - will continue to be offered on the 2016 model as well.
