SVO targets to sell 20 units/annum.
Jaguar Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) has proven that it can make the Range Rover as luxurious as the Mercedes S Class. At the ongoing New York Auto Show, the brand unveiled the Range Rover SVAutobiography, the most luxurious version of the SUV priced just a shade under 150,000 GBP (INR 1.38 crores).
According to a report on Autocar UK, SVO now plans on making an armored version of the Range Rover. Armored luxury cars are a favorite among high-level dignitaries, heads of state, politicians, ministers and the like. Mercedes-Benz offers its S-Guard armoring service for products like the S Class and M Class (now GLE).
While details on the armored Range Rover are unknown, the publication reports that SVO will build 20 units each year, at a price of 250,000 GBP (INR 2.3 crores) each. Like the competition, the armored Range Rover is expected to offer VR6 protection levels, which shields occupants from gun shots and automatic firing rifles like the AK-47. The seam joints of the SUV will also be toughened in case of VR6 protection.

SVO would offer the armored Range Rover with the flagship 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine, or the 4.4-liter V8 diesel engine, both of which are available on the standard Range Rover.
