PaulTan is reporting that the VW Polo facelift, that is made and sold in India, will be introduced in Malaysia mid-year. The car was previewed to journalists during the Pekan plant visit last week.
Like now, the Pekan plant will assemble the Polo with the CKD packs shipped from Chakan, Maharashtra. The car was introduced in India in July 2014, featuring interior and exterior revisions, as well as a new 1.5L diesel engine.
Malaysia being a petrol-dominated market would see no changes under the bonnet of the new Polo. It will continue with the 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 105 PS and 153 Nm, matched to a six-speed automatic with Tiptronic.
Two changes that were absent on the Malaysian preview vehicle were the two-eye headlamps and the 'TOSA' alloy wheels. The car is hoisted on locally purchased Goodyear tires and not the Apollo units from India.

The rest of the changes are carried forward, which include a new lower bumper with foglights placed on the upper ends, a chrome strip, new chrome grille, new taillamp graphics, flat-bottomed steering wheel, refreshed instrument cluster and new seat fabric.
