BMW India today launched the new 3-door Mini Cooper S priced at INR 34.65 lakhs ex-Showroom India. The new Mini range was launched in India in November 2014 in a 3-door Cooper D and 5-door Cooper D diesel variants.
Power for the new Cooper S comes from a twin-turbo four-cylinder 2.0-liter petrol engine producing 189 hp and 280 Nm of torque. A 6-speed automatic gearbox is the only choice for India. The Cooper S accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and achieves a top-speed of 233 km/h. The ARAI rated fuel efficiency is 15.7 km/l.
As with the Mini range, a range of customizations for the wheels, roof, decals, and interior are available. 11 exterior shades will be offered on the car.
Based on the UKL front-wheel drive platform, the new Mini is bigger than the outgoing model. It measures 3,821 mm in length, 1,414 mm in height, 1,727 mm in width and 2,495 mm in wheelbase. The length, width, height and wheelbase have gone up by 98 mm, 44 mm, 7 mm and 28 mm respectively.
The car's boot volume has increased by 51 liters, to 211 liters. With the rear seats folded, the new 3-door Mini can ingest up to 731 liters of luggage. The car is placed on 16-inch 195/55 alloy wheels.
