MINI has launched a new limited-edition version of the Countryman christened as Countryman Black Edition at INR 42.40 lakh (ex-showroom). This model is restricted to just 24 units for India and has been launched keeping in mind the high demand during the festive season.
The MINI Countryman Black Edition costs almost INR 1 lakh over the standard model and is based on the Cooper S John Cooper Works (JCW) inspired variant. As the name suggests, it gets several cosmetic updates which increases its stealth quotient and give it a very intriguing look. As for the visual changes, it gets a new black grille, JCW carbon fibre finished ORVMs, piano black trim for the headlight and taillights, as well as a piano black Countryman moniker stamped onto its tailgate. Furthermore, it also gets blacked-out racing strips on the bonnet and also its roof rails come finished in black. On the sides, it runs on 18-inch JCW alloy wheels with run-flat tyres.
Inside, the MINI Countryman Black Edition features a slew of enhancements such as the head-up display, Mini wired package, electric sports seats, panoramic glass roof and sound system by Harman and Kardon. The stealth-black colour scheme is also carried on to its interiors. Apart from that, it gets JCW aero kit, automatic tailgate access, memory function for the seats and much more, which comes as a standard part of the package.
As for the mechanicals, the MINI Countryman Black Edition sources its power from the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that is rated to deliver 189 PS of maximum power and 280 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and it also features paddle shifters. It is said to cross the 0-100 km/h run in 7.5 seconds which is pretty fast for a vehicle of its size. Its fuel economy rating stands at 14.41 km/l (claimed).
