Soon after the launch of the Kawasaki Z250 and ER-6n, the Japanese sportsbike maker is gearing up to expand its Indian portfolio. The brand's Pune dealership has started bookings for the 2015 Kawasaki Versys 1000 adventure tourer while a South Indian outlet seems to have no information regarding the launch.
Indian Autos Blog learns that the 2015 Versys 1000 which world premiered at the INTERMOT 2014 in September is priced at INR 12.90 lakhs (ex-showroom, Pune). The official launch will happen at a later date and first deliveries will commence in January 2015. The litre-class adventure tourer has a booking amount of INR 5-6 lakhs.
The 2015 Versys 1000 (stands for Versatile System) features a completely revamped front fairing with dual-headlamps, improved aerodynamics and wind protection. Technically, the latest iteration gets an improved long-travel suspension and new 17-inch alloy wheels.
The bike also benefits from a reinforced twin-tube aluminium chassis which is claimed to have an increased load carrying capacity. It also houses provisions for a clean-mount one-key pannier system. Standard equipment includes ABS, 3-mode KTRC (traction control) and Power mode selection.

The 1,043 cc inline four-cylinder liquid-cooled powerplant is mated to a 6-speed transmission via an assist and slipper clutch. The power and torque figures stand at 120 PS (118.3 bhp) and 102 Nm respectively.
The Versys 650 is not coming to India as of now.
