Part of its six new models showcased at the EICMA 2014, the 2015 Kawasaki Vulcan S cruiser had its public debut in Milan today.
The Vulcan S shares its engine with the ER-6 and the Versys. The 649 cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine produces 61 PS (60.14 bhp) at 7,500 rpm (optionally, the engine can also be had in a power state of 46.93 bhp for young riders) and 63 Nm of torque at 6,600 rpm. The transmission is a 6-speed unit.
The cruiser rests on a Perimeter high-tensile steel frame and gets 41 mm telescopic forks at the front and an Offset laydown single-shock, linkage-equipped with 7-way adjustable preload for the rear.
Kawasaki has given the Vulcan S a 300 mm disc at the front and a 250 mm disc at the rear. The motorcycle measures 2,310 mm in length, 880 mm in width, 1,100 mm in height and 1,575 mm in wheelbase. The Vulcan S weighs 225 kg, and 228 kg when equipped with ABS.
Kawasaki says that the Vulcan S's "ergonomics can be shaped on the rider’s exigencies". The footplates and handlebars can be altered in three different positions, thereby offering the rider a comfortable position.
The cruiser is available in three colors - Metallic Royal Purple, Flat Ebony and Pearl Crystal White.
