Features a range-topping Turbo variant
The 2015 Hyundai i30 which brings in visual and technical changes in tow has been unveiled.
It comes with minor visual changes, such as new exterior colors (Jet Black, Orange Caramel and Polar White), a slightly redesigned hexagonal grille, and updated selection of alloy rims.
The biggest change of them all is the introduction of a range-topping Turbo variant that will be available in both 3-door and 5-door guises. The model packs a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine that is similar to 204 hp unit that powers the Kia Cee'd, but is detuned to produce 186 hp and 265 Nm of torque. In favor of enthusiast, the Turbo variant will only be available with a six-speed manual transmission.
This helps the i30 Turbo to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 8 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 219 km/h. It also sits on a sports suspension that is tuned for better handling.
To compliment its sporty characteristics, the exterior is fitted with an aggressive body kit that includes sportier bumpers, deeper side skirts as well as a dual exhaust system at the rear. The interior feature sport seats, contrast stitching, dynamic instrument cluster and black headlining.
Otherwise, the models under the Turbo are available with the same engine lineup as before: a 1.6-liter turbo diesel offered in two power levels (110 hp and 136 hp). Both produce a torque output of 280 Nm with a 6-speed manual gearbox, and 300 Nm with a seven-speed automatic unit. Petrol engines include a base 1.4-liter capable of producing 100 hp and 134 Nm, and a larger 1.6-liter engine that outputs 120 hp and 156 Nm.
The facelifted Hyundai i30 and i30 Turbo will go on sale in the first half of 2015. Prices have not been disclosed yet.
