The new X6 models will come as CBUs.
According to Motoring World, BMW India is expected to launch the second generation of the X6 by the second half of 2015. However, the options for the prospective customers will be limited to only two expensive variants: the X6 xDrive40d or the soon-to-be-announced X6 M.
Following the latest design philosophy, the new F16 X6 is based on an all new platform that also underpins the latest X5. It shares the same headlight-grille arrangement as in the X5, while the overall design looks sportier and less bulky. It can now seat five people comfortably compared to the previous version's seating capacity of four passengers.
Under the hood of the xDrive40d variant is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo diesel engine that produces 306 PS (301.6 bhp) and 600 Nm of torque. The engine will be coupled to an 8-speed ZF gearbox that will transfer power to all four wheels via BMW's xDrive AWD system.
The other variant for India is the soon-to-be revealed X6 M, powered by the M5-derived 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that is expected to output 560 PS (552 bhp). The latter is expected to unveiled at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show next month.
