New spyshots of the 2014 VW Polo facelift testing in Pune have emerged on Auto Column.
These pictures provide us a fair idea of what to watch out for when VW India introduces it towards the middle of the year. The global premiere of the VW Polo facelift is at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show tomorrow.
The Polo refresh for India features headlamps of the outgoing Polo in Europe, and will not use the new LED units in the interest of cost. To its front, the 2014 VW Polo wears a revised bumper that comes with new foglights, a chrome bar connecting these foglights and horizontal elements for the airdam (the current Polo has a honeycomb grille). The twin-slat chrome grille is replaced with a single slat arrangement.
The rear number plate enclosure is a bit wider than the current model's, and extra reflector strips are placed on the far edges of the bumper.
Under the bonnet, petrol engines will continue unaltered - a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine and a 1.2-liter TSI four-cylinder will fire away – but the 1.2-liter and 1.6-liter diesel engines would be replaced by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder mill with better fuel efficiency and NVH characteristics.
