Volvo India will launch the refreshed 2014 Volvo S80 on March 19 in New Delhi.
The refreshed S80 was announced along with the refreshed S60 and XC60 at the Geneva Motor Show last year. While the updated S60 and XC60 were launched in India in October, the S80 was not extended the facelift exercise.
The facelift brings about a reworked front end to the luxury sedan. The grille is now smaller and resembles that of other Volvo models like the S60, while the headlights are tweaked and come with LED daytime running lights. Save for new wheel options, the side profile of the S80 remains untouched, while the rear sees a minor modification to the bumper.
The S80 is offered in India with two engine options. The base models are powered by a 2.0-liter inline five-cylinder diesel engine producing 163 hp at 3,500 rpm and 400 Nm of torque. The top-end model gets a 2.4-liter inline five-cylinder engine producing the same amount of torque as the lower displacement engine, but a higher 215 hp at 4,000 rpm.
The S80 competes with cars such as the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes E Class, Audi A6 and Jaguar XF. All Volvo products in India are imported into the country via the CBU (Completely Built-up Unit) route.
