Jeep is seemingly putting finishing touches to the next generation Jeep Liberty compact SUV and here is the proof.
The 2014 Jeep Liberty will be a compact crossover SUV, a segment which you could never afford to miss if you are a mainline auto manufacturer. The guys at Automobilemag.com have clicked a near production ready test mule of the Liberty.
Even though the test mule wore a deep camouflage, a few design elements can be envisioned. The front fascia of the 2014 Jeep Liberty gets the typical family look with the seven slot grill but the beholders from Automobilemag.com claim that the grill could be extended up to the edge of the bonnet.
The LED indicators extend from the grill to the front fenders like an eyebrow over the fog lamps which also double up as daytime running lights. The profile is clean without much of a drama and so is the rear fascia which bears a small windshield, wrap around tail lamps and bumper-mounted registration plates.
The Jeep Liberty is based on the CUSW platform which underpins the Doge Dart and Fiat Viaggio. The crossover is expected to share the powertrains too with the Dart, however there is a rumor that the Liberty could get the 3.2 litre Pentastar V6 engine that is found on the 2014 Grand Cherokee with a 9-speed auto gearbox.
The 2014 Jeep Liberty is not far away from meeting the assembly line and is expected to be showcased either at the Chicago Auto Show next month or at New York Auto Show the month after.
The Liberty is in the affordable band of the Jeeps and could enter India in the coming years.
