Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) world-premiered the 2014 Honda City Mugen edition on April 23. Kazuhide Yasui, the director for the Mugen division, revealed the car and said that a local launch will take place in the third quarter of this year.
The City Mugen was shown in Philippines as HCPI is the top performing Mugen product distributor in the world outside Japan. The City Mugen carries purely exterior cosmetic enhancements, though upgrades for the engine, suspension, brakes and interior will be offered later on.
Shown in a Tafetta-White color, the Mugen City gets Mugen side decals and Mugen stripes painted across the C-Pillar. Front and rear bumper spoilers combined with side skirts, an all-black grille, faux carbon-fiber finished wing mirrors, boot spoiler and 17-inch alloy wheels are also seen on the sedan.
The Mugen City is based on the top-end VX variant of the sedan. It is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine producing 120 PS of power and 14.8 kgm of torque. While the base City is offered with a 5-speed manual transmission, models higher up get a CVT gearbox.
In December last year, HCPI launched the Mugen pack for the previous generation City more as a stock clearance exercise.
