Honda India – Yes, its indeed the Honda Amaze; Thai launch on November 23
I’m the Founder & CEO of IndianAutosBlog.com. I love teamwork and talking about cars.
Honda India has just announced the branding for their new Brio-based sedan (code – 2TP).
It’s called the Honda Amaze, and there’s nothing that amazes about this announcement as the name is familiar to internet users after our friends at Team-BHP revealed it yesterday afternoon with overtones of speculation.
The Honda Amaze is also Honda India’s first diesel product. Thailand and India will get the Amaze first. The world premiere of the entry-level sedan is to be held on the 23rd of November in Thailand, while the India debut is planned in the next financial year (begins on April 1, 2013).
Due to the diversifying needs of customers and competition that is intensifying, Honda has designed this model. A newly developed diesel engine will motor this car in India, as Thailand gets the Brio’s 1.2-liter 90hp petrol engine. Honda notes in its media release that pricing will be competitive with local sourcing and production.
The government policy, which was Honda’s No.1 enemy in recent years favoring diesel products alone, wraps its arms around Honda’s shoulders, embracing the Amaze, which is a sub-4 meter diesel car.
Honda chose ‘Amaze’ as this car aspires to “offer divergent and desirable values to expand customer delight beyond expectations.”
The literature department of an automobile company is where the most bubbly employees report to work!
Like other Hondas, the principle of Honda M/M (man maximum, machine minimum) concept applies to the Amaze. Following the introduction in Thailand and India, the sedan goes to Indonesia before the end of the year.
The Honda Brio is no doubt a well thought out city car, and we expect the Honda Amaze to bear all the hatch’s virtues with improved fuel economy, better luggage volume and a more spacious rear seat. Good luck Honda!
