For some reasons (that we really can’t understand), people in India like the VW Beetle a lot. It has been featured in various Bollywood movies, advertisements, posters and has been with us since the days of Hitler.
Well, to all those people who like the Beetle, we have a small surprise for you.
Here are some spy pics of the 2012 Beetle caught with a silly camouflage. The reason why it’s silly is because manufacturers generally camouflage their car to make sure that no pesky photographers would have any ‘inside scoop’ on what the car would look like before they intend to.
VW, on the other hand, has just used some body-colored duck tape around the headlamps. That’s it!
So yes, this is EXACTLY what the new Beetle would like.
The changes that are evident are the coupe like roof line and a reworked front end. There are also some new chiseled side moldings and a thickened C-pillar to refresh the old design.
We also notice a strange bulge on the rear wheel arch which may just be a part of the ‘light’ camouflage.
This Beetle will be built of the Golf VI platform and will have a 2.5-liter inline-five in the base models. A turbocharged version of the same engine may follow suit. Expect the debut at the Geneva Motorshow in March 2011.
We've speculated on the possibility Beetle being assembled in India. We have to remain patient till the car debuts in Switzerland before receiving any further updates.
