Earlier in the day, we brought you the news that Yamaha is gearing up to unveil a male specific scooter tomorrow.
We reported that the scooter will be called as the Ray Z and now we present you the fully undisguised scooter ahead of its launch in Goa, tomorrow.
For starters, there are no design changes to the scooter as it remains faithful to the Ray. That is not a bad thing as Ray won the coveted India Design Mark (I Mark). However the scooter's color theme and decals are designed to appeal to male customers.
The dual color theme consists of a black matte finish for half of the font apron. That along with body decals make the Ray Z look much sportier than the Ray which is targeted at fairer sex.
These spyshots appear to have come from a showroom/service outlet suggesting that the scooter is ready to hit the road soon. And there is no change whatsoever under the skin as this is basically a new paint job. No wonder there were no test mules!
The Ray Z is powered by its sibling's 110cc unit which belts out a rather modest 7.1 bhp and 8.1 Nm of torque. The rest of the specifications and feature also the same.
It is not new for Yamaha India to sell two identical products with slightly different color theme. The Yamaha FZ and FZ-S are classic examples. We expect the Yamaha Ray Z to sell at a slight premium over the regular Ray variant.
