India Yamaha Motor has unveiled its all-new scooter, the Yamaha Cygnus Ray-ZR, at the ongoing Auto Expo 2016.
The Cygnus Ray-ZR is aimed at young Indian men, the company has announced. The model is powered by an air-cooled 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve, 113 cc "BLUECORE" engine with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) unit. It has a lightweight body with the scooter tipping the scales 103 kg. The scooter was unveiled in a disc-brake version that features cast aluminium wheels, with an under-seat storage volume of 21 litres.
The market launch of the Yamaha Cygnus Ray-ZR is set for later in 2016. The model, based on the existing and successful Yamaha Ray platform, is familiar to the Indian audience in the Ray and Ray-Z variants. The Cygnus Ray-ZR also carries a freshly designed instrument panel.
The scooter is placed on a telescopic front suspension along with its disc brake setup. It will also be offered in the drum brake version. Improvements compared to the present Ray Z include a separate housing for the indicators alongside the centrally-mounted headlamp and air inlets behind the rider's legs and under the seat.
