The new engine in the lineup is a 1.6-litre petrol motor that puts out a modest 85 hp. The engine is available in all three variants - Conceptline, Comfortline and Trendline - and comes mated only to a 5-speed manual transmission. In addition, the Polo sedan continues to offer the existing 1.6-litre petrol engine which produces 105 hp (which also powers the India-spec Vento). The more powerful motor is paired either to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Apart from the new engine, the VW Polo Sedan in Russia is now available with optional packages namely Comfort, Security, Design and Multimedia. These packages add additional features at a discounted rate. The list of features under each package vary slightly according to the variant.

The VW Polo Sedan is priced between R469,900 (around INR 8.35 lakhs) and R679,000 (around INR 12.07 lakhs).

In India, the VW Polo facelift which launches in 2 weeks, is also in for an engine change. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder diesel and 1.6-liter four-cylinder diesel engines make way for a new 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine that is expected to develop power in two states of tune. Following the Polo facelift, the Vento facelift which is due to be launched this year would get the more powerful version of the 1.5-litre unit. The petrol versions of the duo would remain the same.
