VW's answer to the Ford EcoSport.
As reported earlier, the sixth generation VW Polo will debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show and go on sale in Europe in August 2017, reportedly. It will be followed by a crossover version which is said to replace the VW CrossPolo. Speculative renderings from Avtofokus show how the VW Polo-based compact SUV may look like.
The VW Polo-based compact crossover will basically be the production version of the VW T-Cross Breeze concept that was unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. As depicted in speculative renderings, the production version is expected to look very close to the concept version. It remains to be seen if Volkswagen uses this design for the Polo hatchback as well, so as to create a Polo family of sub-compacts.
Dr. Herbert Diess, Chairman of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, has hinted that the VW T-Cross Breeze concept's production version may be a convertible or have a convertible version. However, considering crucial global markets a regular 5-door version will be the mainstay.
Underpinned by the shortest version of the Volkswagen Group's MQB platform - MQB A0, the VW T-Cross Breeze concept's production version will reportedly be shorter than the 4,191 mm-long Audi Q2. At launch, it should be offered with engines as small as 1.0-litre and as big as 1.6-litre in displacement.
