To be unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016.
Despite the dieselgate scandal that has affected VW all over the world, VW India managed to increase its production to a best-ever 1,23,456 units at its Pune plant in 2015, to sate rising demand in local and export markets.
Volkswagen India president and managing director Andreas Lauermann hopes that the India-specific VW sub-4m compact sedan (codenamed ICS) will further increase production to record levels for the company, given the good demand for sub-4m sedans in the country.
To be based on the VW Polo's PQ24 platform, the sub-4m sedan was recently spotted testing in final production-spec, which reveals an exterior that draws heavy inspiration from the VW Polo and Vento duo. The interior seems to be taken straight out from the VW Polo, save for the inclusion of a 7 inch touchscreen system.

Along with design inspiration and components, it will also source its engine lineup from the VW Polo. Engine lineup will include the 1.2-liter three-cylinder MPi petrol and the 1.5-liter four-cylinder TDI diesel, paired to 5-speed manual transmissions. Additionally, VW could also offer its 7-speed DSG on the diesel, or with the more powerful 1.2-liter TSI petrol.
