To premiere at Auto Expo 2016.
Overdrive has posted a gallery of spyshots of the highly anticipated VW India Compact Sedan (VW ICS), which is rumored to be christened the VW Ameo. Spyshots offer a closer look at the production-ready exterior and interior of the sedan, giving an insight as to what we can expect from the Maruti Dzire rival.
The front end of the Ameo has a familiar VW face, featuring a long grille directly flanked by large headlamps that appear to be sourced from the VW Polo. A spyshot of the Ameo's side profile offers the best look at its sub-4m proportions, while the rear-end gets L-shaped taillight clusters similar to that of the VW Polo.
The new spyshots offer a first look at the interior of the compact sedan, which is also identical to the current VW Polo. It gets a dual tone black and beige interior color combination, silver trim on the center console, multifunction 3-spoke steering wheel with manual adjustability and a central infotainment touchscreen display, which is unavailable on the Polo. This collectively suggests that the model on test is of the top-end trim specification (Highline).

Along with design inspiration and components, the Ameo will also source its engine lineup from the VW Polo. Engine lineup will include the 1.2-liter three-cylinder MPi petrol and the 1.5-liter four-cylinder TDI diesel, paired to 5-speed manual transmissions. Additionally, VW could also offer its 7-speed DSG on the diesel, or with the more powerful 1.2-liter TSI petrol.
VW India has already confirmed that the sub-4m sedan will debut at the Auto Expo 2016 in February. As of now, VW India has not shared plans of exporting the model to other emerging markets.
