It’s no secret that Chinese motorcycle brand CFMoto has ties with KTM. It makes KTM motorcycles for the Chinese market and will soon take on the production of the 790 Duke and 790 Adventure in the near future.

In the latest updates, the design sketches of a CFMoto tourer were leaked online, revealing various styling details of the upcoming product. The upcoming tourer will most likely use the KTM LC8 (Liquid-cooled, 8-Valve) V-twin derived motor, although with a revised displacement. The CF1250G codename confirms that the engine will carry about 1,250 cc of displacement. The LC8 engine, as most of you would already know, currently powers the KTM 1290 SuperDuke R and the 1290 Super Adventure.
KTM’s LC8c mill, in Euro-IV guise, makes 175 hp while the Euro-V version is expected to make even more power. The Chinese motorcycle, on the other hand, should carry relatively lower power output figures and a different state of tune for better low- and mid-range grunt.
The motorcycle you see in the photographs will be used by the Chinese police before being offered to the general public. The production-spec model for the general public will lose the sirens and the speakers. However, the styling cues are likely to be similar to the vehicle in the leaked sketches. Thus, the motorcycle will carry a semi-fairing design along with a tall windscreen at the front. It is safe to assume that it will pack full LED lighting and a Bluetooth-enabled TFT-display.
The police-spec vehicle is seen with a rider-only saddle. However, the production model for the general public will carry a pillion seat. We could see a proper pillion backrest as well. The luggage panniers could be part of the optional extras on the regular model. The suspension department, as seen in the sketches, includes inverted front forks. CFMoto could source the units from WP. Anchoring department will comprise dual discs at the front and a single disc at the back.

The CF1250G may not be the only model to use the newly developed motor. The company will most definitely introduce more models in different segments that will use the brand’s newest engine - a strategy that we have already seen in the lower displacement products from the Chinese brand. That, however, could be still some time away. In the short term, we could see a new, 700 cc twin-cylinder powered roadster from the Chinese brand.
