TVS Motor Company is paying tribute to the heroes of the Kargil war with a special edition Start City Plus. Christened as TVS Star City Plus Kargil edition, the commemorative model has started to arrive at the dealerships. The Star City Plus Kargil features a special livery that comprises of military green paint with a camouflage pattern. However, as the colour is reserved for Indian Army personnel, TVS has used a dual tone scheme for the motorcycle with select parts using the green paint.

The base paint is white while the highlights of the green colour with camouflage are seen on the headlight mask, fuel tank, and on the side and rear panels. The pillion grab rail gets a green paint while the panel under the passenger seat gets a “Kargil” sticker. The combination of white colour with the green shade and camouflage pattern makes the TVS Star City Plus Kargil edition very appealing.
The changes are limited to visuals, and so, the specifications are the same. The 109.7 cc, single cylinder, air-cooled engine on the motorcycle delivers 8.4 PS of power at 7,000 rpm and 8.7 Nm of peak torque at 5,000 rpm and comes mated to a four-speed gearbox.
Stopping power comes from a 130 mm drum brake at the front and 110 mm drum brake at the rear. TVS' combined braking system, Synchronised Braking Technology, handles the safety department. Shock absorption tasks are performed by telescopic oil damped suspension at the front and 5-step adjustable hydraulic shock absorber at the rear.
Last year, TVS Motor Company had announced ‘Kargil Calling – Ride for the Real Stars’ initiative to celebrate the contribution of the Indian Defence forces. The celebratory ride was conducted across all touch points of TVS Motor Company in India on July 26, which is the Kargil Vijay Diwas. As many as 1,00,000 riders across 3,000 touch points in the country participated in the ride.
