Mr. Lalu Krishnan S, a Gaadi.com reader, has spotted two new TVS scooters while they were testing in Southern India. The scooter with the white bumper (and number plate reading TC 401) seems to be the TVS Neo, which is not sold in the Indian market.
The Neo is reserved for South East Asian countries such as Indonesia and Myanmar, where a market for such scooters (step-through mopeds) exists. Production of the Neo takes place only in Indonesia.
There have been no reports suggesting that TVS could launch the Neo in India. But if they do, here is what you need to know about the Neo. Its powered by a single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled engine displacing 109.6cc. Peak power and torque outputs are rated at 8.5 bhp and 8.5 Nm, while a 4-speed gearbox performs the transmission duties.
Electric and kick-start options are available, as is the option of a front disc brake (seen here is the model with one). For reference, the disc brake variant gets a 220 mm disc. The Neo gets a 4 liter fuel tank and has a dry weight of 96 kg.
As for the second scooter, we bet its the new TVS Scooty Zest. In mid-September, during the launch of the TVS Jupiter, the TVS Motor's boss Mr. Venu Srinivasan said that they would launch the Scooty Zest in early 2014, and this could be a production-ready prototype on test. Little else is known about the Scooty Zest, so stay tuned to Indian Autos Blog for further updates.
