While launching the TVS Jupiter in mid-September this year, the company's head, Mr. Venu Srinivasan said that a new model based on the Scooty, called the Scooty Zest, would be introduced early next year.
What you see in these images is a camouflaged prototype of the Scooty Zest, snapped by Autocar, while the two-wheeler was caught on test in Tamil Nadu. The Scooty, thanks to its light weight and easy-to-use nature, is a hit with its women audience, and judging by these images, the Zest will continue to sport that appeal. Autocar reports that the scooter will feature fresh design lines, and that a sportier appearance can be expected.
TVS will provide the Zest with telescopic front forks and a single hydraulic rear shock absorber. We would expect the Zest to carry over its mechanical package from the existing Scooty Pep Plus and Streak. The engine in question would be an 87.8 cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled unit producing 5 bhp at 6,500 rpm and 5.8 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The scooter would be equipped with a CVT gearbox.
We expect the scooter to sport features such as electric start, a mobile-phone charging point and a wide array of colors to choose from.
