TVS is working on a new commuter motorcycle as these spyshots, snapped by Motor Beam reader Toni Jacob, reveal. The bike was caught on test near the company's facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
The exteriors of the bike seem to be inspired by the TVS Jive in most places. However, unlike the clutch-less Jive, this new commuter motorcycle definitely sports a clutch which can be seen in this image. The five-spoke, black alloy wheels are clearly from the Jive however.
Speaking about the powertrain, TVS could well end up using their 109.7 cc engine which is used to power the Jupiter and Wego scooters. This four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled unit produces 8 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 8 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The same engine is used on the Star City motorcycle and comes mated to a 4-speed constant-mesh gearbox.
Or, if TVS is targeting an aggressive price and are keen on competing with the recently-launched Bajaj Discover 100 M, the new motorcycle could use the 99.7 cc engine which powers the TVS Sport. This four-stroke engine produces 7.37 hp at 7,500 rpm and 7.5 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm, and comes mated to a 4-speed gearbox.
There have been various reports suggesting TVS could relaunch the 'Victor' nameplate. Will this upcoming motorcycle be the New Victor?
