TVS Motor Company registers a growth of 27 percent in November

After witnessing healthy sales in October 2018, the Auto Industry saw a lower month-on-month growth rate in November. While the overall trend was positive, growth during the peak of the festive season i.e. Diwali was not as high as expected. The month of November did not see Hero MotoCorp cross the seven lakh sales market for the fifth occasion in the current fiscal, as the company reported 610,252 units.

Bajaj Auto, on the other hand, witnessed a 31 per cent increase in year-on-year growth in November but could not breach its highest monthly sales that it achieved in October.

TVS Motor Company, too, reported higher year-on-year sales performance for November, registering a 27 per cent growth (two- and three-wheelers) in the domestic market. The company sold 319,965 units in November 2018 as against 251,965 units in the same month last year.

The domestic two-wheeler sales stood at 260,253 units last month against 203,138 units in November 2017 – thus registering a growth of 28 per cent. Motorcycle sales grew from 93,202 units in November 2017 to 119,883 units in November 2018 – a rise of 29 per cent. The scooter segment witnessed a healthier 43 per cent rise, growing from 78,397 units in November 2017 to 111,763 units last month.

Cumulative two-wheeler sales stood at 307,142 units versus 243,323 units. The three-wheeler business registered a 48 per cent gain, rising to 12,823 units in November 2018 from 8,642 units in the corresponding month last year.

On the export front, the two-wheeler segment saw a 17 per cent growth to 46,889 units in November 2018 versus 40,185 units in November 2017. To enhance exports, TVS Motor Company launched the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V in Bangladesh. TVS Motor Company also appointed Beta Motor as its exclusive distributor in Argentina. The company showcased its premium products such as the Apache RR 310, the Ntorq 125 and the RTR 200 4V Race Edition 2.0 at the Salón Internacional de la Motocicleta Argentina 2018 along with the RTR 160 4V, RTR 150 and the Rockz at the exhibition.

In the domestic market, TVS launched the new Wego and the Jupiter Grande edition in October 2018. Last month, the company expanded its motorcycle portfolio with the 2019 Apache RTR 180 and RTR 180 ABS.
