TVS Apache RTR 200 4V vs Bajaj Pulsar 220F vs Hero Karizma - Comparo

Here is a technical specifications comparison between the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and its closest competitors - the Bajaj Pulsar 220F and the Hero Karizma.

The Apache 200 is longer and wider than the Pulsar 220F but not so compared to the Karizma. The latter is the largest vehicle in this comparison. The wheelbase and ground clearance values of the RTR 200 are higher than the other two models, at 1,353 mm and 180 mm respectively. The Apache also has the tallest seating position, with a saddle height of 800 mm. The kerb weight of the new TVS model is 148 kg which is less than the Pulsar and the Karizma.

All three models in this comparison use carbureted engines that have similar power and torque outputs. All of them are mated to five-speed gearboxes.

The Apache 200 is powered by a brand new 197.75 cc single-cylinder air-cooled SOHC engine with four valves and an oil-cooler (radiator), that produces 20.5 PS at 8,500 rpm and 18.1 Nm at 7,000 rpm in its carbureted version.

The FI version which produces 21 PS at 8,500 rpm and the same peak torque is not considered in this comparo. The Apache, with the smallest engine in this comparison, is the only model among the trio that gets a four-valve motor, and an oil-cooler. The Pulsar 220F has a slightly better power-to-weight ratio of 140.33 PS/tonne while the RTR 200 has 138.51 PS/tonne and the Karizma has 126.62 PS/tonne.

The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is the most expensive motorcycle of the three, priced at INR 88,990. The Hero Karizma is the most affordable model here, priced at INR 83,900. The Bajaj Pulsar 220F is priced at INR 87,698 (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
