TVS Motor Company has revised the prices for the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V range. The FI variant now costs INR 90,490 as opposed to its launch price of INR 89,990 (INR 500 difference).
However, the carburettor variant with front and rear disc has witnessed a slight drop in the price (INR 500), from INR 84,990 to 84,490. The price of the carburettor variant with front disc and rear drum remains the same, at INR 81,490. All the prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. The design of the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V is a derivation from the Apache RTR 200 range. The bike gets an all-digital cluster; upright riding stance with single-piece handlebar and seat.
The engine is also derived from the RTR 200, but changes have been made to suit this motorcycle. The 159.7 cc, 4 valve mill with oil cooling and fuel injection makes 16.8 PS of power at 8,000 rpm. The variant with the carburettor generates 0.3 PS less than the FI variant, at the same rpm. The peak torque for both the variants stands at 14.8 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The gearbox for all the variants is a 5-speed unit.
Cycle parts include telescopic front fork and a rear Showa monoshock. The bike comes to a halt using a front 270 mm petal disc, and a rear 130 mm drum or 200 mm petal disc. ABS is not available even as an option. The chief rivals of the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V would be the Bajaj Pulsar NS 160, Honda CB Hornet 160R and Suzuki Gixxer.
