Will rival the KTM RC 200 in retail price.
TVS Motor Company has reaffirmed that it will rollout the first product from the TVS-BMW joint venture in the last quarter of the financial year (January - March 2017). TVS Motor's CFO S G Murali says, “We will launch the first product (from the TVS-BMW tie-up) by February or March 2017”.
Previewed by the TVS Akula 310 concept, it will be the company's flagship model. 'Akula' translates to 'Shark' in Russian language. Past reports claim that the branding of the concept will not be used on the production bike and that it will be named TVS Apache RTR 300.
The TVS Apache RTR 300 is the mechanical twin of the BMW G310R, benefitting from the latter's German-developed chassis and engine. Even the braking and suspension systems are said to be common. The skin of the TVS version is recognisably different, sporting a full body fairing. Both models are made at TVS's production plant in Hosur.

The engine powering the flagship TVS bike is the 313 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder mill which develops 34 hp (25 kW) at 9,500 rpm and 21 lb.-ft. (28 Nm) of torque at 7,500 rpm on the BMW. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission.
Maximum power and maximum torque, as well as the delivery map, will be altered for the TVS Apache 300. TVS Motor reportedly plans to attack the KTM RC 200 with its product, which could mean a pricing of INR 1.50-1.75 lakh.
