Triumph Motorcycles India launched the new Triumph Tiger 800 XR on Thursday, expanding its product portfolio in the country. Priced at INR 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), the 800 XR will add to the recent spurt of "Adventure" category bikes in the country, and be assembled using CKD kits in India.
The 800 XR joins the existing Triumph adventure lineup that consists of the XRx and XCx models. The 800 XR is powered by a unique 3-cylinder 800 cc liquid-cooled 12 valve DOHC engine that produces 94 hp at 9,250 rpm. The bike's peak torque rests at 79 Nm at 7,850 rpm and the engine red lines at 10,000 rpm.
As for other specifications, the front is suspended on upside-down forks with a 180 mm travel, while the rear gets a hydraulically adjustable monoshock suspension setup. Two-piston 308 mm disc brakes provide stopping power at the front while a single 255 mm disc is assigned to the rear, both with switchable ABS units.
Among other standard equipment in the new Tiger 800 XR is switchable traction control, trip computer, and height-adjustable seat that has a 20 mm range. Armed with a 19 liter fuel tank, the 800 XR comes in two different colours for now - Crystal White and Phantom Black. 17-inch wheels adorn the front while at the rear are 19-inch wheels.
Triumph's bikes are sold across 12 showrooms in the country.
