After many setbacks and hurdles, Triumph Motorcycles has finally decided to commence its Indian operations by November.
The well known British motorcycle marque displayed a wide range of motorcycles at Auto Expo 2012. The intention was to enter the market later in the year with the help of a CKD assembly plant near Bengaluru.
The bikes shown were the Triumph Bonneville, Tiger, Daytona 675, Speed Triple, Street Triple and Rocket III. We expect all these vehicles to make it to our shores eventually.
However due to various reasons, Triumph's plans faced delayed and the proposed plant near Bengaluru disappeared from the scheme of things.
Worry not for we have the good news!
Triumph Motorcycles has announced that the Indian operations would begin in November with a wide range of offerings, some of which will be built locally at a new CKD assembly plant in Manesar, Haryana. Through a post in its Facebook fan page, the company has announced the appointment of Vimal Sumbly (former General Manager Sales at Bajaj) as Managing Director of Triumph Motorcycles India.
Speaking about the Indian operations, Paul Stroud – Director Sales & Marketing (global) stated -
2013 is a very crucial year for Triumph Motorcycles in India and as a company, we are confident about the timing of our market entry. In the past few months, we have carefully assessed the market landscape and will be making well-honed efforts to provide our discerning customers with a complete brand experience.
In spite of the delay it's good to see Triumph setting up an assembly plant which would enable competitive pricing compared to its rivals like Yamaha, Honda and Ducati.
