Toyota sold 71,875 units of the Innova in 2016.
According to ET Auto, the Toyota Innova has contributed over USD 2.4 billion to Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s turnover in 2016, making it the highest turnover grosser for any brand in India's passenger vehicle market.
Toyota India sold 71,875 units of the Innova in 2016, also making it one of the top 5 best-selling UVs in the country. The figure includes sales of both the first gen Innova and Innova Crysta (second gen Innova) which launched for sale launched last May. The steely performance is against the backdrop of diesel ban and demonetization, which affected sales of all auto companies.
ET Auto also reports the about 47% of the Innova Crysta buyers were already previous owners of the Innova, who had traded the older version for the newer model. The other portion is buyers who may have been lured by the premium appeal, larger size, better practicality and more fuel efficient engine options of the Innova Crysta.
The Crysta's 5-speed manual gearbox variant has a 2.4L GD diesel engine that produces 149 PS & 343 Nm of torque, while the 6-speed automatic variant gets a 2.8L GD diesel engine with 174 PS & 360 Nm of torque. The 2.4 MT and 2.8 AT are capable of averaging a fuel consumption of 15.10 km/L and 14.29 km/L respectively (ARAI certified).
