Despite launching a day after demonetization, the Fortuner proves to be an unstoppable juggernaut
ET Auto reports that the new Toyota Fortuner has received over 10,000 bookings in India since its launch just a day after the government announced the demonetization of high-value currency. TKM has dispatched 4,000 units to customers, while the rest will be delivered in due course.
Despite its price tag and size, the Fortuner is one of Toyota's best-selling products in the market. It has contributed to $500 million of Toyota India's turnover in 2016. Just before 2016 closed, the Fortuner's cumulative sales had crossed 100,000 units, since it came to the market in 2009. Counting in the sales of the Innova, Toyota is one of the top manufacturers in the above INR 10 Lakh segment.
