The exterior of the Toyota Glanza has leaked online. Leaked images show that Toyota’s version of the Maruti Baleno is a far cry from what media reports had suggested in the past.

The Toyota Glanza has only one noticeable difference from the Maruti Baleno, and that’s the design of the radiator grille. Toyota’s version of the sub-compact hatchback has two horizontal chrome slats in the grille, making the front-end look shinier. Apart from that, there’s only badge-swapping all around. The car seen here is in the top-of-the-line V grade, which is equivalent of the range-topping Alpha grade of the Maruti Baleno. There will be only one grade positioned below the V grade: G.

The Toyota Glanza was not expected to have any sheet-metal changes, but even the bumpers, headlamps, alloy wheels and tail lamps having no difference from the Maruti Baleno is a little surprising. It seems like Toyota has gone beyond expectations when it comes to cost-cutting, and that the interior may completely mimic that of the donor car.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor will offer the Toyota Glanza with only the K12M 1.2-litre VVT petrol engine. This BS-VI compliant naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine produces 61 kW (82.94 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. In the Maruti Baleno, it is available with a standard 5-speed MT and an optional CVT, and it delivers a fuel economy of 21.01 km/l (MT)/19.56 km/l (CVT). The same is expected from the rebadged car.
