When Toyota Brazil had launched the 2016 Etios in April, they had left out the top-end Platinum grade as they were working on a more significant facelift for it. The front-end looks much more aggressive than before, featuring a new V-shaped grille with black inserts and chrome accents, sporty bumper, new 15 inch alloy wheels, side skirts and a rear spoiler.
Inside, the changes in the Etios Platinum are identical to the top-end Etios ELX grade. It features an all black dashboard with piano black trim and round HVAC vents, new steering wheel design with buttons and a digital instrument cluster inspired by the latest Toyota Prius. Other new features include cruise control, ISOFIX child seat mounts and head restraint and three-point seat belt for the middle seat passenger.

The Etios Platinum is only available with a 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i flex-fuel engine that now develops 107 hp (10.5 hp power bump). It is equipped with a new 4-speed automatic transmission option. Toyota claims to have improved the cabin soundproofing, ride quality and electric-assisted steering system.
Changes seen in the Brazilian-spec Etios Platinum are also expected to be seen in the upcoming facelift for the India-spec Toyota Etios, as revealed in spyshots. It is expected to launch in India later this year.
