The Tata Harrier is in the advanced stages of development, undergoing road testing and track testing with production components. Motor Vikatan reader CV Vinay has posted new spy images of the upcoming SUV showing its interior in the top-end grade clearly.
The Tata Harrier is the production version of the Tata H5X Concept. Unlike the concept car, the production version doesn’t feature a fully digital instrument cluster. The basic dashboard layout and the three-spoke multifunction steering wheel’s design looks to the concept. The infotainment system’s large floating display, switchgear and knobs are visible in the latest gallery.
The Tata Harrier is underpinned by a modified version of Jaguar Land Rover’s D8 platform. Reports say that the engine is sourced from FCA. It’s the 140 PS 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel engine, basically a different version of the Jeep Compass’ engine with a lower tuning. Customers will get to select between a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Tata Motors will source the automatic transmission from Hyundai.
The Tata Harrier will slot between the Hyundai Creta and the Jeep Compass in the Indian market. It is expected to have a starting price of around INR 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
