Expected to increase further before the festive season.
ET Auto reports that the prices of the Tata Tiago has increased by INR 6,000 - 8,000 from this month. The report further goes on to suggest that another price hike will be introduced before the festive season.
Tata has received over 40,000 bookings for the Tata Tiago since market launch and waiting period for a new customer is now three months. The good demand for the Tiago has contributed to a 32 percent growth in sales in July year-on-year in Tata's passenger vehicle segment, as compared to the industry growth rate of 7 percent.
A big chunk of the demand is for the Tiago petrol variant, which is powered by an all new 1.2-liter three-cylinder Revotron engine with 85 PS (83.80 hp) at 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm at 3,500 rpm. A diesel variant is also available, which has a 1.05-liter three-cylinder Revotorq unit to make 70 PS (69.01 hp) at 4,000 rpm and 140 Nm at 1,800-3,000 rpm. Both are paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, while an AMT option is in the works.
In the festive season, the Tiago will be joined by its sedan sibling - codenamed Tata Kite 5. It could be the least expensive sedan in the market, if priced along the lines of the Tata Tiago.
