According to a report on Gaadi, the forthcoming Tata Nano GenX, which will offer an automated manual transmission (AMT) will be equipped with a 'creep' function. The creep function is present on all automatic transmission cars, but sadly not available on Indian cars fitted with the AMT like the Celerio, Alto K10 and Zest.
On these AMT-fitted cars, the vehicle does not 'creep' forward even when the driver has taken his/her foot off the brake pedal. Instead, they need accelerator input to get a move on. However, the Nano AMT will come with the creep feature making it easy to drive in bumper-to-bumper situations, as one needs to control only the brake pedal.
The GenX Nano will also come with a functional bootlid, a first on the Nano. Equipped with power steering, these added features are expected to make the Nano a better city car, inline with Tata's repositioning of it.
Exterior updates will include new front and rear bumpers and blackened headlight clusters. New color options, customizations and alloy wheels would also be seen.

Inside, a Zest-like 3-spoke steering wheel, new dashboard and door inserts and better seat upholstery will move the Nano a shade upmarket. The Nano Twist Active and Nano F-Tronic concepts presented at the Auto Expo had a larger 24 liter fuel tank, which could be incorporated on the GenX Nano.
