Kite 5 was earlier reported to launch during this festive season.
According to ET Now, Tata Motors has pushed back the launch of its new sub-4m sedan - the Tata Kite 5 - to 2017. It was earlier reported to launch during this festive season.
The reason for delay is, reportedly, attributed to the re-evaluation of Tata's future portfolio, as the management seeks to improve the quality of construction of Tata products, whilst being priced highly competitively. The Tiago is one such product where Tata banked on highly competitive prices and quality construction to lure car buyers. Several months after its launch, the Tiago became Tata's best selling product amongst current products, and one of the top 20 best selling cars in India.
The company will follow the same strategy for the upcoming Tata Kite 5 sedan as well as Tata Nexon, and are looking for ways to further minimise costs of production and supplies, whilst not compromising on quality.

If the Kite 5 is priced along the lines of Tata Tiago, it could be the least expensive sedan in the Indian market, which is certain to raise some eyebrows among rivals. With a 420L boot volume and better equipment combined with the USPs of Tata Tiago, the Kite 5 is expected to be Tata's next best-selling product when launched.
