Tata Motors today unveiled the production version of the upcoming Tata Nexon compact SUV at the ongoing Auto Expo 2016.
After debuting at the Auto Expo 2014, the Nexon features a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-liter diesel engine. Details are available only regarding the diesel variant which makes 110 PS and produces 260 Nm of peak torque.
The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox with three drive modes. Shod with 16 inch alloy wheels and dual path suspension, the compact SUV has a ground clearance of 200 mm and features an electric power assisted steering setup.
The Tata Nexon follows the company’s next-generation ‘Impact Design’ philosophy, the Nexon’s fascia gets “Chrome Humanity Line” on the upper grille, projector headlamps with DRLs, LED taillights with chrome accents, a rising beltline and a floating roof. Everything from the upper grille to the beltline finisher is customisable, Tata Motors says.
On the inside, the Nexon gets a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 8 speakers for audio output. Voice control and command recognition are also available. When launched, the Tata Nexon will rival the Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and the Maruti Vitara Brezza.
