The Suzuki Swift RS with cosmetic upgrades went on sale in Malaysia on the 12th of June at RM79,388 (INR 14.72 lakh). Unlike the Maruti Swift RS Special Edition that was launched in India with just body decals and painted hub caps, the Malaysian version packs in additional features.
Based on the GLX variant, the Swift RS is available only in Superior White exterior color shade with orange roof and lower body stripes. The spruced up hatchback gets rear spoiler, gun metal finished alloy wheels and body skirts.
On the inside the seats and door trims are upholstered in black leather with orange accents to go with the roof. It comes equipped with 2-DIN Kenwood multimedia infotainment system with Bluetooth, GPS Navigation and reverse camera. The standard equipment of the GLX variant include dual airbags, ABS, EBD, BA, automatic climate control, tilt/telescopic leather wrapped steering wheel, rear disc brakes and push-button start.
The Suzuki Swift RS is powered by the 1.4-litre K-Series petrol motor that puts out 95 PS and 130 Nm of torque. Power is transferred via a 4-speed automatic transmission. The RS package commands a premium of RM5,600 (around INR 1.03 lakh) over the regular Swift 1.4 GLX.
Back in India, Maruti Suzuki sold 17,936 units of Swift in May which makes it second best selling car in the country.
