It was reported this month that Suzuki is planning to launch a new premium scooter and a cruiser for the Indian market. The Intruder 150 sports a curvaceous yet muscular design. The bulbous headlamp is complemented by a sculpted tank with large extensions on the sides. The twin exhaust is reminiscent of the Kawasaki Ninja 1000.
The cruiser is likely to use the Suzuki Gixxer's 154 cc single-cylinder SOHC engine. In the Gixxer, it makes 14.8 PS of power at 8,000 rpm, and 14 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm; pairing with a 5-speed gearbox. Expect Suzuki to tune this engine for more low-end torque.

The Suzuki Intruder 150 features a telescopic front fork and a rear monoshock. Brakes include disc on both ends. On the front fender, the ABS sticker is visible. However, expect the system to be a single channel unit a la the Gixxer SF.
As per the website, the Intruder 150 will be launched between November 5th and 7th. When launched, the bike will go head to head against Bajaj Avenger 150. The motorcycle is likely to command a premium of about INR 10,000- 12,000 over the Suzuki Gixxer SF ABS. The carburetted Gixxer SF ABS costs 95,499, ex showroom, Delhi.
