Expected to launch in India this Diwali.
These images, courtesy of The Automotive India, show the first unit of the Suzuki Baleno (Maruti YRA codename) roll out of Maruti's production facility in Manesar. As reported earlier, the premium hatchback has its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week, while an Indian launch is expected in the Diwali month of November.
The YRA in India will be positioned above the Swift, as a rival to the Honda Jazz, Hyundai Elite i20 and the VW Polo. Indian Autos Blog understands that it will be powered by the 1.3-liter Fiat-sourced MultiJet diesel engine, though a petrol engine could also be on offer; however, the 1.0-liter turbocharged Boosterjet engine is unlikely to be offered on the India-spec car.
Technical details of the YRA are yet to be announced in detail, but from the limited information released. the hatchback rides on an all-new "lightweight" platform.
According to reports, Maruti will also manufacture the Baleno for European and Japanese markets, with a market launch in Europe taking place in the first half of 2016.
In India, the YRA is likely to be the second product that will be sold through Maruti's NEXA range of premium dealerships.
