Mercedes Benz is likely to launch the E Class facelift at the Shanghai Auto Show which begins on the 20th of April for the media. Seen here is the long wheelbase model, specific to the Chinese region, snapped with no camouflage on it.
According to the information received by Chinese auto website Sohu, the final tests on the new E Class are already on. Mercedes Benz is seriously lagging behind its German rivals and the E Class facelift is an important model to accelerate sales development of the three-pointed star in 2013 in the Chinese market.
Compared to its predecessor, the biggest change in the exterior design of the E Class is the single-piece headlight. Like in other parts of the world, the new E Class will come in Elegance and Avantgrade front-fascias, where the position of the three-pointed star and the grille design varies.
Mercedes will offer an AMG sports package that enriches the car with a body kit and wheels from the Affalterbach-based outfit to enhance overall appeal. For the Chinese who seek a wholesome experience, Mercedes will launch the E63 AMG as the flagship variant.
In addition to the visual upgrades, the facelift gains gadgets like the night vision assistance systems, DISTRONIC PLUS system (radar-based braking assistance program), BAS PLUS system (emergency brake assist), Active Blind Spot Assist system, Attention Assist system and lane departure warning system.
We'd have to wait for about a month to get confirmation on the powertrain lineup chosen for the Chinese market.
