The jolly chaps at Overdrive have spotted the Ssangyong Rexton W doing testing rounds in Mumbai. The Ssangyong Rexton W is schedule for debut in India on the 17th of October.
While Mahindra’s strategy of introducing Ssangyong brand in India is very unclear, we do know that the Rexton W will be the torch bearer for the brand. It will soon be followed by the Korando C.
Both SUV models will be positioned above the current leader of the pack – Mahindra XUV500.
The Ssangyong Rexton W is 475 cm long, 190 cm wide, 184 cm tall, and the wheelbase stands at 283 cm. With those dimensions, the Rexton W is pitted bang on against the current kingpin - Toyota Fortuner. It features a comprehensively re-designed front fascia with exquisite details such as:
- All-new chrome grill
- 18-inch alloy wheels
- Double barrel headlamps
- LED DRLs
- ORVM with turn indicators
- Sporty tail lamps
We expect Mahindra to plonk a new 2-liter diesel engine that makes 154bhp. We're not sure if we'll see the older 2.7-liter diesel engine with 165PS. The transmission on offer might be a six-speed manual or a X-Tronic automatic. We are expecting a price tag of 20-25 lakh rupees on debut.
