No performance upgrades though.
While Maruti is working towards reducing the backlog of the Ciaz's deliveries, sources tell Indian Autos Blog that the company is planning on a new sportier variant for the sedan. No, Maruti will not plonk a larger and more powerful engine, but instead plans on improving the aesthetics of the already well proportioned sedan.
Like the 'Aero Kit' package offered on many existing Marutis, a similar design package has been developed for the Ciaz, complete with a chin spoiler, side skirts and a diffuser-like element for the rear.
And while the multi-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels on the current top-end Ciaz look classy, the sportier model will see a dull gray/matte finish for them for added appeal. The exterior package will likely be complemented with a spoiler. Inside, Maruti plans on equipping this variant of the Ciaz with its new SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system which gets integrated GPS navigation among other features like Bluetooth, USB, AUX-in and CD/MP3.

Other features that are likely to be seen include illuminated door sills, premium seat covers and pillows. The mechanicals of the car will remain untouched. The Ciaz is offered with a 1.4-liter petrol and a 1.3-liter diesel engine. The petrol can also be had with a 4-speed automatic transmission.
