Slipper clutch can now be fitted to the older KTM 390 - Report

The fitment will cost INR 9,000 excluding labour charges and taxes.

The owners of the older models of the KTM 390 Duke and KTM RC 390 can now install slipper clutch through some authorized KTM service centers in India. The fitment will cost INR 9000 that excludes the labour charges & taxes and would simply replace the conventional clutch unit. The slipper clutch reduces the effects of aggressive downshifts and hence benefits the rider by giving more speeds at corner entries.

The company first added the slipper clutch to the to the 390 Duke in August last year, followed by integrating the same to the RC 390 a few months back. The 2016 models also have some impressive updates like auto headlamps, new and improved cushioning on the seats, enhanced ECU units & radiator fans and much more. The Indian spec models continue to come with the same underbelly exhaust while the ones retailing outside receives a new side-mounted aluminium setup.

Mechanically, the KTM 390’s draw power from a 373.3 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled mill mated to a six-speed gearbox. The motor manages to pump out a maximum power of 44 PS with peak torque coming in at 35 Nm. Other host of features include upside down forks at the front, dual disc brakes with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and a fully digital cockpit on board.
