Marks the return of the Octavia RS nameplate to India.
Skoda India has announced that they are launching four new products in 2017, two of which are the Skoda Kodiaq SUV and Skoda Octavia RS. Also in the pipeline are sportier Monte Carlo editions of the Rapid (post facelift) and Octavia for launch in 2017.
The Skoda Kodiaq will make its world debut on September 1 in Berlin, followed by a motor show debut in Paris in October. The Kodiaq is Skoda's first ever mid-size 7-seat SUV, featuring an evolution of Skoda's angular styling that was previewed by the VisionS concept.
In the Indian market, it will be third model in Skoda's range to ride on the MQB platform, and could source the engine lineup from its sedan sibling - the Skoda Superb - which could include 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TDI engines. It could only be offered with a DSG gearbox in both variants, while an AWD system will likely be equipped in the top-end diesel variant.
Marking a return to the Indian market since the discontinuation of the Laura vRS, the new Skoda Octavia RS packs a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine capable of producing 230 PS. It is the fastest series production Skoda Octavia till date, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited).
